Our Services

With expertise in health care policy, service design and delivery, and financing, VHCA’s services are concentrated in five areas:

1. Innovative Health System Development

VHCA assists providers and associations in the development and execution of new systems that allow them to deliver high-quality, cost-effective services in inventive ways. Our health care and Medicaid consultants help children’s health care providers, hospitals, health centers, physicians, mental health and substance use providers, providers serving individuals with developmental disabilities, long-term care facilities and other health care providers assess their existing business structures and implement business practice changes to comply with federal and state policies.

2. Public Policy Formation and Advocacy

VHCA consultants advise clients on key health care policy issues at the state and federal levels. We assist them in setting priorities and goals, establishing policy positions, identifying and effectively communicating with important stakeholders and partners, and developing strategies for achieving success.

3. Funding and Reimbursement Strategies

VHCA health care consultants help clients identify new funding and business opportunities in the health care arena. We assist them in developing alternative financing and reimbursement strategies, largely within the context of Medicaid policy. We also guide and assist clients in competing for federal and state grants and contracts.

4. Strategic Planning and Communications

VHCA provides services to organizations – including providers, associations, and state and federal government agencies – that are looking for creative solutions to short- and long-term planning and communications issues. We evaluate clients’ current programs and structures and position them to respond to the changing health care policy landscape and program initiatives. We support clients’ search for potential partners. We assist them on strategic communications issues (i.e., building awareness, understanding and support), with both internal and external stakeholders.

5. Research, Analysis and Evaluation

VHCA has extensive experience researching Medicaid, health care, reimbursement and child welfare policies. We collect information through literature reviews, observation, interviews, surveys and focus groups. Our written reports give our clients clear guidance and provide a strong basis for action.
